In a recent interview with UGASports, Choates -- a self-professed longtime
Bulldog fan -- announced his intentions to commit on the spot if and when the
Bulldogs offered. On Wednesday morning, that promoise was realized, as the
safety inked his letter of intent to Georgia in a signing ceremony held at the
school.
Choates, who plays at 5-foot-11, 184 pounds, may project as a defensive back
when he reaches Athens, but it's his speed and athleticism across the field that
caught the eye of Bulldog coaches early. With experience at the running back,
wide receiver, defensive back, and kick returns, the versatility Choates brings
should be a strong asset going forward in his Georgia career.
Head coach Mark Richt and defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt were
both actively involved in the recruitment of Choates, and, once he reached NCAA
qualifications for academics, he was quickly brought onto campus for the final
weekend of official visits.
More to come.
