. . I feel it's necessary. Sometimes we have to learn painful lessons in life. Other times we can only teach others through our own mistakes.

It speaks volumes to me that Graeme's father went public with the cause of Graeme's death. Says to me that his family would want Graeme's life and his mistakes to serve as an example to others so that some other lives may be positively affected by such a negative and sad event. I applaud him for his openness and candor. Couldn't have been easy.

Graeme did not die of a heart attack. He died of an overdose of prescription narcotics. Per his father's statements in the video I'm linking, Graeme had battled with addiction to alcohol and drugs for over 10 years. Sadly he lost that battle. Such tragedy should not end in vain and maybe we can all learn a little something from it.

If you see a friend acting strangely or out of character, don't just write it off and instead talk to them and find out what's going on. If you suspect they might be using and abusing do everything you can to get them the help that they need.

Graeme's drug and alcohol infused postings here seem to have brought enjoyment and entertainment to many but behind the scenes several of his friends have mentioned how such episodes embarrassed him and he regretted having posted in such shape. In some way the reactions on this and other forums may have in fact enabled him in some small way.

Graeme will be missed by many, most of all by his family and close friends. To me it would be a disservice to his memory not to use his passing as a cautionary tale that we might all learn some important lessons from. Such lessons could help save someone in the future and I think Graeme would appreciate that.
