A year later, D'Andre Walker is taking visits and trying to narrow things down in his recruitment and, on Saturday, he decided to visit Georgia.
"The visit went good," Walker said in a telephone interview with UGASports on Monday night. "I like the new staff there. Coach (Jeremy) Pruitt came from Florida State and he brought in a good staff."
Walker had been offered by Georgia's previous defensive staff so what kind of first impression did the new staff make on the Peach State pass rusher?
"They are great guys," he said. "It feels like they are being honest with you. I felt comfortable around them, too. It is just a great group all around."
Saturday was an opportunity for the new staff to explain to Walker how he would fit in Pruitt's new defensive scheme and according to the Fairburn native, the UGA assistants seized the opportunity.
"We watched a lot of film and talked about the position I would be playing," he said. "They want me at that defensive end/outside linebacker position but even when I play linebacker, I would be rushing the passer. I think they call it the "Buck," in that defense."
Walker, who finished his junior season with 108 total tackles, 29 tackles for a loss, 21 sacks and 45 quarterback hurries, claims no leaders at this time.
But Georgia staff, after Saturday, has given him something to think about.
"Georgia is in my top group," Walker said. "If they keep playing their cards right, who knows what could could happen in the future."
The home-state team has made a strong impression on the talented defender, but a number of other schools are also heavily in the mix for Walker signature.
There are no specific visit plans for Walker at this time, but he does hope to see all of his top schools in the near future.
"I want to get back over to Auburn," he said. "I want to visit Clemson, South Carolina, and North Carolina. I also want to get to Florida and LSU. LSU offered me today so I want to check them out."
When it comes to a decision for Walker, there is no timetable at this time but the rising senior standout hopes to make a decision by the end of his senior season.
"To be honest, I really don't know," Walker said concerning a timeline. "I would say by the end of my senior season, but I don't know for sure on that yet.?
