Erik Walden (6-3, 180, 4.5). The Bulldogs have already brought in two
quarterbacks this year,
Blake Barnes and
Alonzo Bryant, and both have already enrolled in school and joined
the team.
Walden said he has not told UGA of his intentions yet, but plans to do so
next week. Other schools to have offered include Kentucky, Mississippi State,
and Middle Tennessee State.
“I’d really like it for things to work out with Georgia," he told Rivals.com
earlier this month. "I love their school tradition and the coaches and the fact
that it’s close to home.”
He rushed and passed for over 1,000 yards as a senior, and is credited with
over 48 touchdowns in the past two seasons. As a junior he rushed and passed for
over 1,500 yards in both categories, and has led his team to the Georgia Dome
the last two years.
Walden (6-3, 180, 4.5) had almost 1,000 yards rushing and 1,000 yards passing
and more than 30 combined touchdowns as a dual-threat quarterback at Thomas
County. He led the team to an 11-2 record and the state semifinals.
Though a high school quarterback, Walden will likely play receiver or defensive
back in college. He is not qualified academically, and may head to prep school
for a year.
