TSN names Shockley Player of the Week

ATHENS, Ga. – University of Georgia senior quarterback D.J. Shockley was named the Sporting News' College Football Player of the Week, the second such award for Shockley following his performance in the Bulldogs' 48-13 season-opening victory over Boise State last Saturday.
Earlier this week Shockley was named the SEC's Offensive Player of the Week.

In the first start of his career against the Broncos last week, Shockley completed 16-of-24 passes for 289 yards and five touchdowns and also rushed for 85 yards on five carries and one touchdown. Shockley's five touchdown passes tied the school record set by former Bulldog David Greene, who threw for five scores last year in Georgia's 45-16 win over LSU. By throwing for five touchdowns and rushing for one, Shockley set the school single-game record for touchdown responsibility.
Shockley and the rest of his teammates return to action this Saturday when they take on the South Carolina Gamecocks at Sanford Stadium. Kick-off for is slated for 5:30 p.m. ET, and the contest will be televised nationally by ESPN. All Georgia games are broadcast live on the Bulldog Radio Network on AM 750 WSB in Atlanta and 106.1 FM and 960 The Ref in Athens and can be heard on georgiadogs.com, the official website of UGA Athletics, as well.
