Thanksgiving Surprise

Georgia has long been rumored to have a number of silent commits in the fold.
Multiple publicly committed players have said as much of their more private brehtren.

Well, one running back commit is silent no longer. Rivals250 running back Devwah Whaley (Beaumont, Texas) announced his commitment on Twitter on
Thanksgiving night.
"I just wanted to surprise everybody because they thought I was going to do
it at the All-American game," Whaley said. "It was starting to get a little
overwhelming and stressful so I decided to do it a little earlier."
Whaley took an official visit to Georgia the week of the South Carolina game
and apparently made his decision then.
"I have been silently committed since my official," Whaley said.
The Georgia staff was thrilled at the time when Whaley let them know he was
coming Athens. Running backs coach Thomas Brown had gone to see Whaley the week
before in Texas.
"They were very excited," Whaley said. "The main thing was getting it out
there. They had wanted me to but  I decided to wait a little bit. I told
the coaches yesterday I was going to announce it."
The 6-foot, 205-pound tailback apparently caught everyone off guard by
deciding to announce on a major holiday.
"Nobody was expecting a big-time recruit to commit on Thanksgiving," Whaley
said.
Whaley joins fellow running back commit Elijah Holyfield as the one-two punch the Bulldogs were looking for in this class.
"It was just the environment, the atmosphere and the coaching staff," Whaley said. "I just felt it was a great fit for me. Me and Elijah are real close."
