New head coach Kirby Smart has settled on Scott Sinclair as his
new strength and conditioning coordinator.
Georgia confirmed the hire Wednesday afternoon. The school also announced that former UCF head strength coach Ed Ellis, a mentor of Sinclair, will also be joining the staff with the Bulldogs.
Sinclair spent the last three football seasons at Marshall, after spending the
nine years prior to that as an associate director of strength and conditioning
at UCF in Orlando, where he worked with the Knights' football, baseball and
track and field team.
In May of 2012, Sinclair was certified as a master strength and conditioning
coach (MSCC) at the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association's
national conference.
He previously served as an assistant director of player development for the
football team at Georgia Tech from 2001-2003, which is when he first met Smart.
A native of Rockingham, N.C., Sinclair earned his bachelor's degree in sports
medicine from Guliford College in 1999.
He would become the latest hire for Smart, who Tuesday tabbed Shane Beamer as
the team's new tight ends coach/recruiting coordinator.
It's believed Smart has one more coaching staff member to name, a defensive
coordinator. Multiple sources tell UGASports and other media outlets that
person will be Alabama secondary coach Mel Tucker.
