Setback for Zamir White

The news that came out of North Carolina on Monday afternoon disturbed the Bulldog Nation. After making some calls, UGASports broke the story that the No. 1 ranked tailback in the country, Zamir White, tore his ACL last Friday night.

White, a Georgia commit, seemed to be fine after Scotland County High School's playoff victory and he even made the trip to Athens on Saturday to watch his Bulldogs defeat Kentucky. White wasn't on crutches or using a cane to get around. In fact, he seemed fine.

But he wasn't. White had suffered an injury in Friday night game when he was hit in the knee by a helmet. After the hit, White popped up and appeared no worse for wear.

"Unfortunately it is true," Scotland County head coach Richard Bailey told Deanna King of NCPreps.com. "It has been a sad weekend here."

White and his teammates hosted Seventy-First High School out of Fayetteville, North Carolina on Friday, in the second round of the Class AAAA playoffs. Scotland County won the contest 63-26, as White eclipsed the 2,000-yard mark on the season. He averaged over 10 yards a carry in the game and gained 130 yards and three touchdowns in the first half alone.

White spent Saturday in Athens and was reportedly seen speaking with Ron Courson, the head trainer for the Bulldogs. Per a source at Scotland, White had to go to the hospital on Sunday due to excessive swelling in his knee. That was when the injury was detected.
