Rivers on UGA win; 'That defense impressed me'

Class of 2018 Grady High athlete Jaylen Rivers was one of many highly regarded recruits on campus Saturday and the two-way player had positive vibes about his visit.

"I had an awesome time there. It was a good win for Georgia," Rivers said. "I like UGA a lot and I had a great time with all of my old teammates from Grayson. I talked to Coach [James] Coley and Coach [Dell] McGee the most."

Although the three-star spent majority of time with two offensive coaches, the position at the next level is still up in the air.

"They talked about the things that they liked about me during my private workout this summer. They like the new bulk that I have put on," Rivers explained. "They asked me if I had decided which side of the ball I would like to play on. They may come to my game against Woodland (Stockbridge) this week. They also talked about how school is going."

Rivers does not have a preference when it comes to a position, he just wants to win.

"I've always played both, I really don't know which side right now, it's all about team needs or where a team would want me to me to play. I love to score touchdowns and win games right now," Rivers replied. "I talked to my dad about it and he said we will train at defense this offseason because he feels like I'm a better receiver at this point."

An offer from the Bulldogs would be a special one.

"They didn't talk about an offer but if an offer came I would definitely consider them," Rivers responded. "An offer would mean a lot to me for sure.

The 6-foot-2, 190 pound junior came away impressed with the product he saw on the field for the Bulldogs.

"I really enjoyed the environment at Sanford Stadium. There was not a empty seat in there," Rivers said. "The defense impressed me because they were really physical and fast getting to the ball. They played a really good game."
