Player Countdown to Kickoff - No. 93

Spring Review: Jones figured to have a leg up in the battle for a starting job due to the graduation of Jeff Owens, Geno Atkins and Kade Weston and he didn't disappoint. Jones capped off a solid spring by finishing atop the depth chart at left end, ahead of Brandon Wood and Derrick Lott.
Fall Preview: Although head coach Mark Richt has stated the post-spring depth chart is just a guide and not necessarily who will start at a given position, it will be a surprise if Jones is not starting at left end come the opener against Louisiana-Lafayette. Jones could also see some time rotating in and out at nose as coaches cross-trained their down linemen during spring drills.
Abry Jones is the current 93 for the Bulldogs. Jones played in all 12 games as a freshman last season and this season
will be a major contributor in the Dawgs new 3-4 defense.
One of the greatest Bulldogs in recent times also wore 93.
Richard Seymour was a dominating defensive lineman and was an All-American in 2000. In 1999, he led the team in tackles with 74 and had a total of 223 in his career. He was the 6th pick overall in the 2001 NFL Draft. In the NFL he has been a Super Bowl champion three times and to the Pro Bowl five times.
93 yards is the distance of probably the most famous play in Georgia history. 1980 Georgia/Florida, Belue to Scott and
"Run Lindsay Run"… Every Georgia fan knows the play by heart and can recite all the Munson lines (maybe mess up a word here and there but you get the picture.) Down 21-20, just over a minute to go, 3rd and 11 from the 7 (although we all know Larry said 8) and Buck Belue finds Lindsay Scott up the middle, he turns and heads to the sideline… and well you the rest.
A 93-yard TD pass has also happened two other times in Georgia history.
In 1989, Greg Talley hit Kevin Maxwell for a
93-yard score against Vanderbilt.
In 2003, David Greene found Tyson Browning on a
93-yard score against LSU.
93% is the completion percentage that Mike Bobo threw in the 1998 Outback Bowl against Wisconsin. The senior went 26-for-28 and connected on 19 straight passes. He had 267 passing yards and a touchdown as Georgia won 33-6.
1993 - Georgia Record: 5-6
Head Coach: Ray Goff
Captains: Bernard Williams, Shannon Mitchell, Mitch Davis and Charlie Clemons
1893 - Georgia Record: 2-2-1
Head Coach: Ernest Brown
Captain: George Butler
