30-6 win over New York All-Stars in the two states' annual Governors Bowl.
Moreno also caught two passes for 21 yards. His
touchdown runs came from 2, 3, and 12 yards out, and he rushed for a two-point
conversion.
"So it was Moreno time once again,"
writes Phil Dusenbury who covered the game on Moreno's final score. "On
first down the Bulldog caught an eight-yard pass. He then ran for 11 yards
before busting off a 43-yard jaunt to the NY six. Three plays later he finished
off the six-play, 68-yard drive with his third TD, a three-yard run."
Moreno's longest run of the day was 30 yards.
Middletown South's last day of school is today. Moreno
is expected to move to Athens soon and get in the mix at tailback with the
Bulldogs.
"How powerful will he be when he goes up against the
types of linebackers and safeties we run into?,"
Georgia head
coach Mark Richt wondered aloud recently. "That remains to be seen.
He is going to come in here with a lot of energy, and if he plays better than
some of the other guys, then we will throw him in there."
Moreno set the New Jersey high school scoring record
with 782 points. In all, he scored 128 touchdowns. As a senior he rushed for
1,808 yards and 43 touchdowns.
