Massive four-star defensive tackle Jordan Davis commits to Georgia

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The search for defensive line help continued in a big way for Georgia on Thursday evening, as Rivals250 defensive tackle Jordan Davis announced his commitment to the Bulldogs.

A product of Charlotte's Mallard Creek High School, Davis ranks as the nation's No. 16 defensive tackle in the class of 2018, as well as the No. 223 player overall in the Rivals250.

"I like the proximity to home and the coaches, especially Coach [Tray] Scott, who you probably know gave me my first offer when I started playing football my sophomore year," Davis told NCPrep.com's Deana King. "The recruiting class coming in 2018 isn't bad either

Davis, who visited Athens for Georgia's win over South Carolina, chose the Bulldogs over offers from the likes of Florida State, North Carolina, Michigan, and Miami.

The work of Tray Scott, who got to know the 6-foot-6, 320-pound run stuffer during his tenure with the Tar Heels, was something that caught Davis' eye early about the Bulldogs, as well.

"He’s a real hard-nosed coach, a real attack at the point kind of coach and that’s what I like," Davis told UGASports.com in May. "Also, you can show somebody better than you can tell them, and with Coach Scott, he really takes that to heart. When he shows you how to do something, he was showing me that at Carolina’s camp.”

The two kept in touch even as Scott journeyed around the Southeast.

"When he went from North Carolina to Ole Miss to Georgia, it was a shock to hear from him," Davis said. "It showed how he is as a person. If he says he’s going to do something, he’s going to do it.”

With the commitment, Georgia now holds the pledge of 18 players from the class of 2018, including ten four-star prospects.
