Green honored

A.J. Green was named to the 2008 Football Writers Association of America Freshman All-America Team, according to an announcement made by the FWAA on Thursday.
Green, a native of Summerville, S.C., led the Bulldogs with 963 receiving yards and eight touchdowns on 56 receptions, a UGA freshman record. The 963 receiving yards ranked as the third-best single-season total in school history. Green also made four rushing attempts for 61 yards.

The Freshman All-America honor by the FWAA and AON Insurance adds to an already impressive list of accomplishments for Green. He was also selected first-team All-Freshman by CollegeFootballNews.com and Phil Steele, All-Freshman by Sporting News, named Freshman of the Year by the Southeastern Conference Coaches, named first-team All-SEC by the Associated Press and Phil Steele, selected second-team All-SEC by the SEC Coaches and earned the team's Newcomer of the Year Award on offense.
