Georgia tops Bama for Rivals100 defensive end Brenton Cox

This time a month ago, Rivals100 defensive end Brenton Cox was locked and loaded to sign with Ohio State. Things started to change quickly in the latter parts of November before backing off that pledge a week later. Alabama and Georgia immediately became the favorites for the Stockbridge High standout.

Alabama hosted the 6-foot-4, 245 pound defensive end on an official visit on December 2nd. After that trip to Tuscaloosa, the Crimson Tide had all the momentum and was labeled as the favorite.

Then came the Bulldogs, who was winning a SEC Championship while Cox was on the Alabama campus. The next weekend, Georgia was able to get the No. 34 nationally rated prospect on campus for an unofficial visit. The next weekend, Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs hosted him once again, this time for an official.

Georgia rode that momentum to Early National Signing Day, and landed the No. 6 rated prospect in the Peach State.

The Bulldogs remain at No. 2 overall in the Rivals Team Rankings, but are closing on the Ohio State Buckeyes quickly.
