Georgia expecting a big haul on the Early Signing Day

Wednesday marks the start of the early signing period for college football and the Georgia Bulldogs are poised to have a huge day.

Based on numbers gathered by UGASports, Kirby Smart is expected to sign anywhere from 18 to 20 prospects, which could catapult Georgia to the top of the college football rankings.

The Bulldogs – who officially have 18 verbal commitments – currently stand at No. 3 in the team rankings behind Ohio State and Miami.

Topping the list is five-start quarterback Justin Fields, who will sign with the Bulldogs at noon, along with five-star running back Zamir White, who signs at 10 a.m. and defensive end Adam Anderson who signs at 12:30.

There is a small bit of drama involving five-star running back James Cook, who last week took an official visit to Florida State, where his brother Dalvin starred with the Seminoles. Sources tell UGASports, however, that Cook is still expected to sign with the Bulldogs.

Eight four-star prospects are also set to sign. They included offensive lineman Trey Hill, defensive tackle Jordan Davis, wide receiver Kearis Jackson, tight end John FitzPatrick, offensive lineman Warren Ericson, defensive end Azeez Ojulari, defensive back Christopher Smith and defensive tackle Devonte Wyatt.

Four-star linebacker Aaron Brule and wide receiver Elijah Moore are still listed on Rivals’ commitment list for the Bulldogs, although both players are expected to sign elsewhere.

Three-star offensive lineman Owen Condon and kicker Jake Camarda are also expected to sign with the Bulldogs.

Verbal commitments Tramel Walthour (three-star defensive tackle) and defensive back Rachad Wildgoose (three-star defensive back) won’t sign until February.

Of course, there’s plenty of drama from the uncommitted Georgia targets

Five-star offensive lineman Jamaree Salyer is believed to be favoring the Bulldogs over Clemson, while four-star defensive end Brenton Cox will choose between the Bulldogs and Alabama.

Salyer is expected to make his announcement at 10:30 a.m. with Cox deciding at 3:15 p.m. ET.

At 2:30, all eyes will be on Tennessee legacy Cade Mays, who makes his decision at 2:30 on ESPNU. A five-star offensive lineman, Mays is down to Georgia and Clemson, with sources pointing to the Bulldogs as the team to beat.

Other names to watch include four-star defensive back Divaad Wilson, five-star defensive end Micah Parsons and five-star linebacker K.J. Henry.
