Fox offers Ohio center

This past weekend was the first of two weekends in April

basketball coaches are allowed to be out at tournaments around the country
watching the top travel teams play. Georgia coach Mark Fox and his staff were
scattered throughout the country at different events and they found multiple
players to whom they extended scholarship offers.
One prospect they really liked was Nick Ward, who plays with All-Ohio Red on the
Nike circuit. The 6-foot-9, 240-pound center averaged 14 points and 12 rebounds
per game this weekend, but only talked to one new school since returning from
Nike EYBL event in Virginia.
"Georgia is the only new school I've talked to," Ward told UGASports. "They
offered."
Part of the reason Georgia was the only new school to call the four-star
prospect on Monday is because he already had received scholarship offers from
the likes of Michigan State, Ohio State, West Virginia, Purdue,
Xavier,
Cincinnati, Iowa and i prior to the weekend.
But the Georgia offer is one that intrigues the Ohio native.
"They have a great program and great coaches," Ward said. "They have been doing
great down there in the SEC. It's a great program."
Georgia assistant coach Jonas Hayes has had success in the past two years going
up north to find post players. Last year, he signed Yante Maten out of Detroit.
On Monday night, he plucked another one out of Detroit in Mike Edwards.
Hayes is
hoping to add Ward to that list in the class of 2016.
"He just said they really want me and stuff like that," Ward said. "They want me
to come down and be in SEC country. All my options are open right now."
Ward added that he's not sure yet when he will decide on a school and claims no
favorites yet.
