Emerging offensive lineman shares his thoughts on Georgia

It happens every year. Talented prospects show up at the Rising Seniors program with few or no offers, have a great week of practice and a great game, and then their stock takes off. One candidate for that this year is Evan Fields, an offensive tackle out of East Coweta High School.

"It was a great opportunity and I loved my time there," Fields said of his time at Rising Seniors. "I learned a lot because I come from a Wing-T offense so they showed me how to get in a two-point stance and it just showed that I'm well-rounded. The coach at Rising Seniors said keep doing what I'm doing and put on weight and schools will notice."

Several ACC schools have started to notice what Fields can do.

"Georgia Tech, Duke, Virginia, Wake Forest, Boston College and some others are showing interest right now," Fields said. "None of those have offered yet. My one standing offer is from Charlotte."

Georgia is a program that would excite Fields if they jump into the mix down the road.

"It's a great program," Fields said. "It'd be a great opportunity to go there. I feel like I can succeed anywhere I go, and if they want me there, I feel like I'd succeed and work my butt off to do it."

Fields thinks, despite an underwhelming first season, that Kirby Smart is the right man for the job at Georgia.

"I've heard people say he's a terrible coach and he should go back to Alabama, but I don't believe in that," Fields said. "I think when he gets his recruiting classes in, in say after three to four years, he's going to build that program up well."

When it comes to the recruiting process, Fields is seeing increased interest but has no real preferences yet.

"I'm open to any school," Fields said. "I don't really have a dream school."
