HOOVER, Ala. - As expected, Georgia was picked to win the SEC East by the league media Thursday morning.
"I hope the media is right. I was looking at the record of picking the eventual champions and it wasn't real good," Georgia coach Mark Richt said of the media, which has only picked the SEC champ correctly four times since 1992. "Maybe you guys will be better at picking divisional champs anyway. That would be nice."
The Bulldogs picked up 1,434 points (129 first-place votes), followed by South Carolina with 1,358 (72), Florida with 1,045 (12), Missouri with 797 (2), Tennessee with 718 (4), Vanderbilt with 598 and Kentucky with 266.
