Dawgs offer top tackle

Georgia's new staff is working to stock the offensive front, and they
continued those efforts on Tuesday by extending an offer to junior offensive

tackle Trey Smith of Jackson, Tennessee.
"I called Coach (Sam) Pittman, and he informed me I had (an offer)," Smith told
UGASports via text on Wednesday.
The four-star lineman had a chance to meet Pittman well before the new Georgia coach was donning
red and black.
"He was my recruiter at Arkansas," Smith said. "I spent time with him at camp at
Arkansas, so we're familiar with each other."
At 6-foot-4, 270 pounds, Pittman could certainly make use of Smith, and Smith is
high on Pittman's ability, as well.
"He's fiery," Smith said. "He knows what he wants, and he'll be blunt with you.
Great offensive line coach, technique-wise. I got some great coaching when I was
at his Arkansas camp. He'll be a great fit at Georgia."
As for the Bulldogs, Smith had hoped to hear from them.
"It was an offer I had waited for a while," Smith said. "We made plans to visit,
but they never materialized."
While he's not sure when he'll make his way to Athens, expect the Bulldogs to
receive some face time.
"It might not be this spring, but I'll be down there for sure," Smith said.
In terms of his overall recruitment, Smith isn't being hasty and plans to use
most of his time to make a decision.
"No teams really stand out," Smith said. "I'll probably make a top five this
summer, and I think I'll commit after my senior season."
