Dawgs offer a Vandy commit

Georgia continues their search to add more talent to Jeremy Pruitt's defense. Most of the new offers lately seem to be to defensive backs, but today the Bulldogs sent one out to a talented linebacker prospect out of Tennessee.
"The University of Georgia offered today," Murfreesboro (Tn.) Oakland inside linebacker Josh Smith told UGASports on Wednesday night. "I'm excited about the offer. It's a great school. Who wouldn't be excited about getting an offer from the University of Georgia?"

Pruitt, Georgia's defensive coordinator, gave the Rivals250 prospect and current Vanderbilt commit the news.
"He came in last week for a school visit," Smith said. "We sat down and talked to him, me and my dad, and he told me then that I had an unofficial offer and today he called and said I have an official offer,"
With the news being so fresh, Smith said he's yet to decide whether he's going to take a visit to Georgia, but today's offer didn't come completely out of nowhere.
"I heard from them a little bit here and there throughout the recruiting process, but not a ton," Smith said.
The four-star prospect made one observation from watching Georgia this year.
"They have great linebackers," Smith said. "They had a really good one this year, number 52 [Amarlo Herrera]. I have followed them a little over the past few years, but not too much. But I know that any given year Georgia is going to be a powerhouse. You really can't beat it."
Along with Georgia, Smith says he's heard from Oklahoma, Cal, Ole Miss and Kentucky recently.
"I feel obligated to take my visits and see what's out there, but like I said, I'm still committed to Vanderbilt," Smith said. "I'm visiting there on the 31st of January. That will be my last official visit."
Smith plans to take five official visits and will have a final decision after his visit to Vanderbilt. As a senior he recorded 128 tackles, nine sacks, four forced fumbles, a pick six and four pass deflections.
