Georgia has flipped a four-star who had been committed to the defending
national champions.

Dorchester (S.C.) Woodland strong side defensive end Michael Barnett has
switched his commitment from Florida State to Georgia, a source confirmed to
Rivals.com on Friday morning.
"Nobody but my coaches and my family. That's about it. I probably mentioned it to a couple of my teammates, but I was still up in the air about it," Barnett said. "I just called my recruiter, Coach (Jay) Graham, and told him what the deal was. As a recruiter, he tried to get me to change my decision and keep with them, but I felt Georgia was the best fit for me, so I had to do what I had to do."
Barnett (6-4, 245), a projected early enrollee, signed financial aid papers with
Georgia in a 10:30 a.m. ceremony at his school.
The aid agreement does not bind the prospect to the school, per NCAA rules, but
does allow for unlimited contact until enrollment.
This marks Barnett's third commitment during his recruitment. He initially
pledged Virginia Tech in November 2013, only to back out three months later.
Georgia then entered the picture, but he wound up picking Florida State upon
attending its camp in June. The Bulldogs finished second ahead of N.C. State,
Clemson and Florida.
Georgia remained persistent, though, and continued to chip away at Barnett under
the radar.
"It doesn't really matter if they're the number one team in the country. It's a matter of getting your education and doing what you need to do to get to the next level," Barnett said. "Every school in the nation, as far as Division 1 goes, is a good school, but is it the best fit for you?"
As a junior, Barnett registered 89 tackles and seven sacks.
He gives Georgia 22 commitments for the 2015 class.
