Dawgs add a kicker

Georgia added a kicker to its Class of 2015 Monday morning.
One day after strongly hinting his intentions, Sprayberry High kicker and Army All-American participant Rodrigo Blankenship said he's going to join the Bulldogs as a preferred walk-on next fall.

"It had been a plan for a while," Blankenship said. "I had always had interest
in Georgia, ever since the seventh grade, but we never had a clear-cut plan
until a couple months ago. Then Mark Richt called me."
On his website, RodrigoBlankenship.com, the senior said that Richt offered him a scholarship, which will go into effect once Marshall
Morgan's scholarship runs out after the 2015 campaign. Georgia also has walk-on
William Ham on its roster.
A versatile performer, Blankenship said he averaged over 70 yards on kickoffs and
averaged 46 yards per punt. He connected on 7-of-10 field attempts this season, including a
career best of 56 yards.
Blankenship also holds offers from schools that include both the Army and Naval
Academies, with additional interests from BCS programs like Mississippi State,
Rutgers and North Carolina.
Note: An earlier version of this story indicated that Blankenship would
likely make the news official today. He did and we updated the story
accordingly.
