Darnell Jefferies talks Georgia offer

It was the last weekend before the 2017 class signs their scholarships on National Signing Day, but Georgia's coaching staff used that weekend as a way to get a jump start on their 2018 and 2019 classes. They invited Darnell Jefferies, a three-star defensive lineman in the 2018 class, up for a visit and gave him some good news before he left.

"It was a great day," Jefferies said. "Coach [Kirby] Smart took his office and told me there that I have an offer."

The 6-foot-4, 275-pound prospect has been on Smart's radar for a while..

"I really like Georgia," Jefferies said. "Coach Smart and his staff are doing a great job. He said they have been watching me since the ninth grade and liked my film and what I do as a player."

Prior to receiving the offer from Georgia, Jefferies already held offers from Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, Wake Forest, Tennessee and Colorado State. He's still open to everybody at this point in the process.

"I don't have any standouts right now," Jefferies said. "I'm just grateful to have offers from those schools. I'm not sure when I'll make a decision."

Jefferies mentioned upcoming visits to Virginia Tech and Alabama during February.
