"I kind of knew throughout the week. I had been pondering it," Dallas told UGASports.com. "I knew I was going to come up here; I got the chance so I went ahead and pulled the trigger."
A rising junior at Glynn Academy, Dallas is currently a three-star athlete according to Rivals.com. The 6-foot, 182-pounder stars on both sides of the ball for the Red Terrors.
As for where he will ultimately play for the Bulldogs, Dallas indicated he will have a number of options.
"Both sides want me. The defense wants me, the offense wants me," he said. "Coach (Brian) Schottenheimer likes me and Coach (Jeremy) Pruitt likes me."
Dallas said he's been told he will also have the opportunity to return kicks and punts.
"Coach (Mark) Richt called me and went into his office," Dallas said. "I told him while he was watching the punters that I had some stuff I wanted to talk with him about. That's when I told him I wanted to commit."
Dallas currently holds 10 offers, including ones from Auburn, Florida, Missouri and South Carolina.
He is Georgia's second verbal commitment for the Class of 2017, joining McEachern quarterback Bailey Hockman.
Speaking of Hockman, Dallas - who did not compete due to an ankle injury - said he met the fellow junior for the first time during Saturday's Dawg Night festivities.
"This was the first time for me meeting Bailey and we hit it off," Dallas said. "I hit him on Twitter, he hit me on Twitter, we started talking and just like that we're a 1-2 punch."
Dallas, who will remain in Athens Saturday night, said he plans on being back for the Bulldogs' game against Alabama.
"It feels like home," Dallas said of his new home. "It's Georgia."
