Pitcher Drew Cisco, corner infielder Caleb Bryson, pitcher James Garner and junior college infielder Jonathan Hester are the first four members of Georgia's latest recruiting class after signing national letters-of-intent to attend UGA, Bulldog coach David Perno announced Monday.
Cisco, a 6-2, 196-pound native of Mt. Pleasant S.C., is ranked among the top 25 high school draft prospects in the country by Baseball America. The son of Jeff and Janet Cisco, Drew has posted a 20-6 record, 1.61 ERA and 233 strikeouts in 169.3 innings pitched in three seasons as the ace for the Wando High School Warriors and coach Jeff Blankenship. Cisco earned MVP honors at Wando last year as a pitcher/shortstop and for his summer league traveling team, the Diamond Devils. The right-handed Cisco has excelled at national showcase events including participating in the Under Armour All-American Game at Wrigley Field in Chicago this past summer and the 2009 Perfect Game USA event in Atlanta. Mike's older brother was a star pitcher for the University of South Carolina and was signed by the Philadelphia Phillies in 2008. Drew's grandfather is former major leaguer Galen Cisco, who served as the Toronto Blue Jays' pitching coach in the 1990s, helping them to World Series titles in 1992 and 1993.

"I'm excited to have officially signed with UGA and it's great to be a Dawg," said Cisco.
"Drew is one of the biggest highlights of this recruiting class, and he's going to be a part of our rotation very early in his career," said Perno. "He is a tremendous competitor."
Bryson, a 6-1, 195-pound right-handed hitter, is the son of Jimmy and Vicky Bryson of Thomasville, Ga. Currently, he is a three-sport standout for Thomas County Central High School. As a junior, he batted .476 with a team-high 12 home runs and 42 RBI for coach Chad Parkerson, seeing action at third base, first base, left field and catcher. He earned the outstanding offensive player award, All-Area recognition and was named to the Georgia Dugout Club Top 100. He has accepted an invitation to the fourth annual International Power Showcase High School Home Run Derby at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg. In 2008, he was an All-State selection after batting .444 with 14 home runs and 49 RBI, all team-bests for the Yellow Jackets.
"I am thrilled about the opportunity to play the game I love at such a great school with the rich baseball tradition of UGA," said Bryson.
"Caleb is going to provide a lot of power in our lineup," said Perno. "He is a big bat and a versatile defensive player."
Garner, a 5-11, 150-pound left-handed pitcher, is the son of Joel and Kris Garner of Loganville. Currently, he attends Loganville High School where he plays for coach Jeff Segars. Last season for the Red Devils, Garner went 9-0 with a 1.53 ERA and 91 strikeouts in 64 innings pitched. He led them to a 27-7 mark, the 8-AAAA region title and the final four of the state playoffs. Also, Garner was a first team All-Region selection and played for the Junior Team Georgia squad. The Red Devils captured the 2008 state title, going 32-7 as Garner went 3-3 with a 0.91 ERA with 21 strikeouts in 23 innings pitched.
"James throws three pitches for strikes, and he's a fierce competitive left-handed pitcher," said Perno.
Hester, a 6-3, 195-pound right-handed hitter, is the son of Charles and Joy Hester of Savannah. He is a third baseman and Dean's List student at Middle Georgia College following a standout career at Savannah Christian. As a freshman for the Warriors and coach Craig Young, Hester batted .330 with 12 home runs in helping them advance to the Junior College World Series. During his prep career with the Raiders and coach Carl Carter, Hester was a two-time All-State selection and team MVP and three-time Offensive Player of the Year recipient. He batted .488 with nine home runs and 43 RBI as a senior and .500-10-54 as a junior.
"UGA has a rich tradition of being outstanding in academics and baseball, and I'm very excited to be a part of it," said Hester.
"Jonathan will be a steady bat in the lineup, he's a versatile infielder and an outstanding student too," said Perno.
The early national signing period continues through Nov. 18, and the Bulldogs will announce additional members of their recruiting class later this week.
