All 25 members of the 2020 freshman signing class are present and accounted for, according to Georgia’s updated roster on Georgiadogs.com.
That includes defensive lineman Jalen Carter, defensive back Kelee Ringo, and offensive lineman Broderick Jones, each of whom could play key roles with the Bulldogs this fall.
Others include kicker Jared Zirkel and defensive lineman Nazir Stackhouse.
They’re not alone.
Florida State tight end transfer Tre’ McKitty, along with quarterback transfers Austin Kirksey (Nevada) and JT Daniels (Southern Cal), are also on campus, and currently working out with the team as the weight room is now open for voluntary use..
Wake Forest transfer quarterback Jamie Newman has been with the team since late December.
The school also announced the addition of 22 walk-ons.
Of that group, four held offers from other schools.
Those include offensive lineman Miles Johnson (Columbia, Cornell, and Dartmouth), quarterback Jackson Muschamp (Colorado State, Western Carolina, and Wofford), defensive back Patrick Taylor (Air Force), and offensive lineman Weston Wallace (Colorado State).
Also, of those 22 listed new walk-ons, five are noted as kickers, including Warner Robins senior Connor Shaw, who also doubles as a wide receiver, according to the roster.
Of the transfers, Newman and McKitty, along with possibly Daniel, are expected to play the biggest roles.
Jersey numbers were not announced.
Although head coach Kirby Smart has made it clear that playing time will be earned and not given, all indications are that Newman will be the starter when the Bulldogs open their season in Mercedes-Benz Stadium Sept. 7 against Virginia, although Daniel will no doubt be given a long look as well.
McKitty, meanwhile, brings a wealth of experience at tight end, after making 50 career catches at Florida State before coming to Georgia as a grad transfer.
The Bulldogs have been taking part in voluntary workouts overseen by strength and conditioning coach Scott Sinclair. Those will continue until mandatory workouts begin with Smart and his staff, beginning July 15.
