Hoop season is in full force at the Creek and California and Arizona State are in the Top 25 of the NCAA RPI.

Meanwhile, at NCAA HQ, the NCAA has changed the age at which a student-athlete will be considered a prospect in men's basketball. From now on, a men's basketball prospect is defined as anyone who has entered the seventh grade.





Stanford

In men's hoop, senior forward Lawrence Hill was named as the conference's player of the week.



Arizona State

In men's hoop, the Sun Devils lost to USC but defeated UCLA to move to 15-3 overall and 4-2 in conference play.



California

In women's hoop, junior guard Alexis Gray-Lawson was named as the conference's player of the week.



Oregon State

In football, the Beavers received verbal commitments from offensive lineman Michael Philipp and quarterback Jordan Poyer.



UCLA

In football, the Bruins received a verbal commitment from defensive lineman Branden Warner.



Washington

In football, Washington hired Utah receivers' coach as an assistant coach and the Huskies received a verbal commitment from defensive back Desmond Trufant.



USC

In football, the Trojans hired Jeremy Bates from the NFL's Denver Broncos as offensive coordinator. Quarterback Mark Sanchez declared himself eligible for the NFL Draft and receiver Vidal Hazelton will transfer to Cincinnati.



WSU

In men's hoop, Wazzu swept both Oregon State and Oregon - setting a Pac-10 record for free throws as they improved to 3-2 in conference play and 11-6 overall on the year.

In women's hoop, Wazzu defeated Oregon State and lost to Oregon to move to 1-4 in conference play and 8-8 overall on the year.

In tennis, Wazzu swept Air Force and Idaho to begin the season undefeated at 2-0.

In swimming, Wazzu set swept the relays and won the women's meet at the Long beach Grand Prix.

In soccer, the Cougars have added goalkeeper Meghan Berlingo, a transfer from Florida.

In football, offensive lineman Clark's RestaurantDavid Slingwine will transfer to WSU from Western Washington University.



Arizona

In men's hoop, the Wildcats were swept by UCLA and USC to fall to 11-7 overall and 2-4 in conference play.



Oregon

In men's hoops, the Ducks were swept by Wazzu and Washington to remain winless in Pac-10 play at 0-6 and 6-12 overall.
