Hardy looking for right fit

For Monticello, Miss., running back Kendrick Hardy, things are finally coming together. After being announced as a U.S. Army All-American earlier this year, the Lawrence County High School senior has been licking his chops for an opportunity to play on national television.

"It's awesome to just be here, man," said Hardy. "I've been waiting on this for a long time. Since the day I was nominated I've wanted to be here.

"This is one of the top games in the country and it's been playing on TV for a long time. I know that it means that I'm a good person and a good player."

Both statements appear to be accurate for Hardy, who's currently still looking through his different options on where to play football next year.

"I'm looking at whether or not they run the ball. A lot of it also depends on their coaches and their environment."

The 6-foot-0, 210-pound prospect said that he's currently looking at Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Southern Miss and Jackson State.

"I went to Ole Miss and then the weekend after this game, I'm going to Southern."

The Rivals.com ranked no.8 running back will most likely already know his way around campus when he visits Southern University, as his older brother attended there as well.

While many would think that it'd be in their favor, Hardy also explained that in a way, he's trying to get out of his older brother's shadow.

"That's probably a little bit of a negative but they have new coaches since he's been there. He told me that when I make my decision to go because I'm happy. I need to know that's my place and not change my mind."

Before the recruiting dead period, Hardy was keeping in touch with all of the coaching staffs recruiting him.

"I'm probably the closest with the coaches at Ole Miss. I've been up there a couple of times so I've gotten to know them."

Hardy believes that he could still go on other visits besides the one to Southern although there are none others set in stone right now.
