Rossman honored by Big 12
Brooks Rossman has been named the Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Week after his performance at Colorado, the league office has announced.Kansas State place-kicker
The honor marked the third time this season that a Wildcat has earned weekly honors from the Big 12 as Josh Freeman (offense) and Courtney Herndon (defense) each garnered the award earlier this season. Rossman joined Texas quarterback Colt McCoy and safety Lendy Holmes of Oklahoma as the Big 12 Conference players of the week.
Rossman, a senior, nailed two field goals this past weekend at Colorado, including a career-long of 53 yards. He is 7-of-9 this season on field goals and also connected on the eighth-longest field goal in school history and the longest in the Big 12 Conference this season when he hit from 53 yards on Saturday.
Rossman currently is ranked third in the Big 12 in field goal percentage at 77.8-percent and second at K-State for career field goal percentage at 78-percent (29-of-37).
A San Diego, Calif., native, Rossman has also added kickoff duties to his repertoire in 2008 and has not disappointed as he has recorded a touchback on 34.0 percent of his kickoff attempts (16-for-47). He currently ranks second among Big 12 kickers with at least 35 kickoffs in percentage of touchbacks.
Kansas State returns to action this Saturday as No. 4 Oklahoma visits Bill Snyder for a nationally-televised contest on FSN. Kickoff is set for 11:40 a.m.
