Moore named WAC Offensive Player of the Week
Kellen Moore, Hawai'i defensive back Keao Monteilh and Hawai'i placekicker Dan Kelly were named the Western Athletic Conference offensive, defensive and special teams players of the week, respectively.DENVER - Boise State quarterback
Moore, a freshman from Prosser, Wash. (Prosser HS), completed 20-of-28 passes for 325 yards and two touchdowns in Boise State's 38-3 win over Louisiana Tech. His touchdowns went for 13 and 44 yards and he completed passes to 11 different receivers. Moore finished the game with a passing efficiency rating of 185.36. He also rushed four times for 11 yards.
Monteilh, a senior from Honolulu, Hawaii (Saint Louis School), recorded seven tackles (3 solo) and had two interceptions in Hawai'i's 32-29 overtime win at Fresno State. His first pick came in the second quarter and led to a Warrior field goal and a 19-3 lead. His second interception came at Hawai'i's eight-yard line right before the half, stopping a Fresno State drive and preserving a 19-9 lead at the intermission.
Kelly, a senior from Temecula, Calif. (Linfield Christian HS), made a career-high four field goals in the win at Fresno State. He connected from 36, 30, 41 and 33 with the final kick the game-winner in overtime. Kelly scored 14 of Hawai'i's 32 points in the game.
Others nominated on offense: junior running back Lonyae Miller, Fresno State; junior quarterback Inoke Funaki, Hawai'i; senior H-back Eddie Williams, Idaho; sophomore quarterback Colin Kaepernick, Nevada; and junior running back Marquell Colston, New Mexico State.
Also nominated on defense: sophomore safety Jeron Johnson, Boise State; sophomore linebacker Ben Jacobs, Fresno State; junior defensive tackle Faleaoga Faumui, Idaho; sophomore linebacker Brandon Marshall, Nevada; junior linebacker Jamar Cotton, New Mexico State; and senior linebacker Jake Hutton, Utah State.
Other special teams nominations: sophomore placekicker/punter Kyle Brotzman, Boise State; freshman kick returner Kama Bailey, Idaho; sophomore punter Brad Langley, Nevada; and senior punt returner Chris Williams, New Mexico State.
