Worthington arrested over the weekend
Doug Worthington being arrested and charged for allegedly operating a vehicle while intoxicated on campus according to Ohio State University Police reports. The Buckeyes have managed to stay out of the way of the police blotter this offseason but the defensive line took a hit over the weekend with defensive tackle
The 20-year-old defensive tackle started in 11 games during the 2007 season and was penciled in once again as a starter for the upcoming season. According to the public reports it lists that Worthington was arrested near Woody Hayes and Cannon Drive at 3:13 am on July 26th.
Worthington was transported to OSU PD to be processed and then released with a court summons according to the public report.
A university spokesperson did not have any specific details about the incident or any sort of timetable and said that head coach Jim Tressel is out of the office today.
Worthington could have to face a hearing in front of a panel (made up of students and faculty) that could decide if any sort of school suspension could be in the future. Even if Worthington is not suspended from school (this is the first time that Worthington has been in trouble while at Ohio State) a likely trip to the dog house would be imminent and it would take a lot of hard work to move back up.
Currently Nader Abdallah is shown as the back up at Worthington's position of defensive tackle but a lot more could be answered as the Buckeyes prepare to report for fall camp on the 3rd of August.
