Spring practice report: Moving indoors

The Missouri Tigers were forced indoors for practice on Tuesday afternoon by the weather. Working without 20 yards of the complex due to a temporary weight room, the Tigers still got in plenty of drills.

*Hitting was the hardest it has been outside of the scrimmage. There was one time when the defensive linemen got in a circle and alternated men in the middle. The player in the middle charged at the guys in the circle and hit them. Lots of spirit in that one and Evander Hood just blew up a walk-on.

*Speaking of blowing up a walk-on, Brandon Massey laid out an unidentified walk on receiver and everything just stopped. The receiver had to get his ribs heavily taped and sit out for a while.

*The Tiger quarterbacks were again very inconsistent. Chase Daniel threw what would have been a pick six to Darnell Terrell when Daniel's pass was behind his receiver. Chase Patton was also picked off twice that we saw. Quarterback play is the key to the 2006 season and you can't assume that it's all going to be as good as it was during the Iowa State game.

*Jon Gissinger suffered a high ankle sprain in the scrimmage and was held out of practice wearing a boot.

*Jimmy Jackson returned to practice for full contact after missing most of the spring so far. Earl Goldsmith is expected back after spring break.

*In line drills, it looked to us like the defensive line was mostly having its way with the offensive line. We'd still put offensive line play as one of our top two concerns heading into two-a-days.

*Play of the Day: Brandon Coleman lofted a pass into the left corner of the end zone. Sophomore Tommy Saunders elevated over Trenile Washington and extended his left arm for a fantastic one-handed grab. He got the foot down as well.

Missouri will return to practice Thursday afternoon.
