Tuesday Practice Notes
The No. 6-ranked Georgia Bulldogs (3-0, 1-0 SEC) practiced for two and a half hours on Tuesday afternoon in Athens to prepare for this Saturday's SEC matchup with Mississippi State (2-1, 0-1 SEC) in Starkville.
"Overall, it was a good, solid day," head coach Mark Richt said. "It was extremely hot yesterday, but I think they got a bit of a break with the weather today. There was only one cloud in the sky but that cloud seemed to cover up the sun a good bit and there was a breeze."
Richt conducted his weekly press session earlier in the day and discussed this week's road opener at Mississippi State game at length.
"We're excited about playing this game," Richt said. "It's the first time for the players and for (the coaches) to play them, but I remember how loud and wild it seemed to be up in the stands when I played there as a player and how hostile their stadium can be. And we haven't been away to play in a long time, since our bowl game, so we'll see how we handle that."
Richt was a quarterback at Miami when the No. 13-ranked Hurricanes lost 14-10 at No. 16 Mississippi State during the 1981 season.
Kick-off for Saturday's game is slated for 9:12 p.m. ET, and the contest will be televised nationally by ESPN2.
"I don't think it will be too hard on us. We're actually looking forward to not playing in the sun and the heat," said linebacker Danny Verdun.
Overall, the Dawgs are not fazed by the late kickoff.
"It might be tough for some of the guys but for most of us it is just a normal game. You just have to stay focused," said tight end Martrez MilnerWe will probably watch some other games, watch film, have meetings. Hopefully the younger guys will see the veterans able to keep focus on the game and follow the example."
All Georgia games are broadcast live on the Bulldog Radio Network on AM 750 WSB in Atlanta and 106.1 FM and 960 The Ref in Athens and can be heard on georgiadogs.com, the official website of UGA Athletics, as well.
