The final four?

Although just a few weeks past Signing Day for the class of 2005, class of 2006 standout Myron Rolle out of Princeton (N.J) The Hun School is already beginning to narrow his list of colleges with four looking very good at this point.

Rolle, 6-2, 205 pounds is the top defensive player in the country for the class of 2006 and in our eyes, would have been the top safety in the country as a junior this past season. He lit up the Nike Camp at Penn State a year ago and will be back for an encore this spring to show he's the nation's top prospect regardless of position.

While most juniors have plenty of time to form their list of colleges, take their visits and make an eventual decision, Rolle will be graduating early in the spring and as a result, his recruitment is moving full steam ahead.

"I have four main schools I'm looking at right now," Rolle said.

"I'm for sure going to take an official visit to Oklahoma. They were the first school to offer me and you always kind of feel something special for the first school steps up and shows they believe in you. I have a special attachment to them because of that and plus I really like Coach Stoops and the overall program in general."

So who else besides the Sooners?

"I'm also going to take unofficial trips to Florida State and Miami and I'm very interested in Michigan, too," Rolle said. "Those are four great schools and things are already becoming crazy with recruiting so I think it's best if I try and cut my list down as soon as possible. It was funny, right when Signing Day was over, Lloyd Carr (Michigan), Kirk Ferentz (Iowa) and Al Groh (Virginia) all called my coach and said they wanted me to call them."

Other coaches also are after the Garden State standout.

"Urban Meyer at Florida has been very aggressive and Coach Stoops was just at one of my basketball games," Rolle said. "Right now, my plan is to try and take some unofficial visits in the Spring because every one of our games next season is on a Saturday so there won't be much time for me to take my official visits during the season. My unofficial visits will be like officials though as I already have a whole itinerary of things I would like to see covered while I'm there so I don't think I'll be shortchanging anyone by not taking an official to their school."

"The one thing I know I want to do is stay relatively close to home. That's why those four schools I mentioned are all close enough for my family to come out and watch me. I'm very close with my brothers and it would be a great gift to them to be able to pick a school that they can come out and watch me play any time. I'm basically a byproduct of what they have made me so it's important that I stay close to them."

Off the field, Rolle continues to maintain a 4.0 GPA and still plans to major in Neurology in college.
