Nation's No. 1 junior ready for San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Princeton (N.J.) The Hun School safety/running back Myron Rolle has been tabbed by many as the top prospect in the nation for 2006. With 32 offers already in writing, it's a point that's hard to argue. Rolle will be in San Antonio this upcoming weekend for the U.S. Army junior combine and is excited to compete against the best.

"I am very excited to compete at this combine because I know that some of the top players in my class will be there to demonstrate their abilities," Rolle said. "I am confident that my talent will surface above the rest, but I am anticipating some healthy competition."

Rolle has already faced talented players participating in the NIKE Camp at Penn State last year as an underclassman. He also had an outstanding summer camp at Oklahoma when he was a rising sophomore, which earned him a verbal offer on the spot.

"Although I got known after the Oklahoma camp, those combines last year really elevated me to another level," he said. "I went there and dominated the competition as a younger player so that made it even more special. Moreover, I know what to expect at these combines now including the different tests, the overall format and even the type of routes the receivers will run."

As far as recruiting is concerned, it's too early for Rolle to narrow down his list of favorites from those who have offered.

"They're all on an equal platform," said the 6-foot-2, 204-pounder who was also named the Overall Camp MVP at this past summer's Miami camp despite being just a rising junior. "Virginia, Michigan, Florida State, Ohio State, Rutgers and Miami are recruiting me the hardest so far, but I don't have any favorites."

Rolle and his brothers grew up following a couple of programs.

"We liked Florida State and Penn State, but more than anything we just wanted to see good football," he said. "I'm not in a hurry with the recruiting process. I'll probably decide next December because I'm going to enroll early somewhere."
