Dawgs still lead for Grant

Stone Mountain (Ga.) Stephenson safety Michael Grant (6-0, 175, 4.4) may quietly be getting close to a decision. In fact, there is a chance he could commit as early as this weekend, though the possibility is a distant one.

"I've pretty much narrowed it down to Georgia, Florida and Tennessee," said Grant. "Georgia is in the lead right now, I really like them a lot. They have had a slight lead for a while, but they may be starting to pull away a little bit now."

Grant will take an official visit to Georgia this weekend followed by visits to Florida (1/16) and Tennessee (1/23). When asked point blank if there was any chance of a commitment here is what he had to say:

"There is a chance, yes," explained Grant. "If I know for sure when I leave then I will commit. I've been liking Georgia for a while, but I really like the other schools though. I'm trying to hold off on committing until I can at least take my other visits, but if I know it's the place for me then I will."

Grant reiterated that he is not a sure thing for the Georgia Bulldogs.

"I still like Tennessee and Florida a lot too. I do still plan on taking my visits there which means I'm not committed to them and they get a chance to impress me on an official visit too."

Scheduled to participate in the Georgia North-South all-star game, Michael had to drop out due to an injury.

"Man I really wanted to play in it. I broke my hand halfway through the season and the doctor told me that I was going to need surgery on my hand and I was supposed to have it a couple of days before that game.

Then he came back and told me that the way that it was growing back I wouldn't need surgery and that I could play as long as I protected it. I called them back to tell them I could play, but it was too late."

Grant is also an excellent track performer and if this becomes a tight race, track will likely be the deciding factor.
