NU lands first commit
Linebacker Nathan Fox of Houston (Texas) Clear Lake has committed to the Wildcats to become the first member of the Class of 2015.
The unranked prospect was not even on Rivals' offer list at the time of his commitment, but he comes from a very fertile recruiting ground for Northwestern. The Wildcats will have six Houstonians on the roster this season.
The 6-foot-3, 222-pounder visited Evanston for an overnight visit last weekend and committed to head coach Pat Fitzgerald on Tuesday. He chose Northwestern over offers from Mississippi State, Utah and Wake Forest.
Fox was named to TheOldCoach.com's Texas 5A all-state football second team in 2013. He posted 131 tackles, 19 TFL, three interceptions, three forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries in helping the Falcons to a 6-4 season.
Rivals Texas recruiting analyst Jason Howell named Fox one of his top underclassmen to watch earlier this year.
"Fox moves well and has the size colleges covet in linebackers," he said. "His highlight tape is solid."
