NFL Draft Expert Analysis
"That quarterback, he is definitely under consideration," Rick Smith of the Houston Texans said of Johnny Manziel. What all did Smith and NFL analyst Mike Mayock think of Manziel? What teams are in the mix for Manziel, Evans and company?
COLLEGE STATION, Texas -- Johnny Manziel's pro day on March 27th was a showcase. Manziel was entertaining as always and he showed his ability to throw from under center. It also allowed a couple of his not as highly publicized Texas A&M teammates to show what they can do too.
"That is a great thing to have happen," A&M head coach Kevin Sumlin said. "You have a showcase like this, and a lot of people are talking about one guy, but there is also a lot of conversation about other people out there catching balls. That does nothing but help those guys in their evaluation process too."
Mike Mayock of NFL Network said, "It was the most different evaluation I have ever done. I think you have to embrace that."
It appears those in attendance did just that. The Houston Texans General Manager Rick Smith said they were meeting with Manziel following the pro day workout and you can add ten other names to that as well.
Manziel's agent Erik Burkhardt could not reveal which teams Manziel would be meeting with in the days to come, but he did say, "He has 11 scheduled visits and workouts."
Manziel's A&M teammates are seeing some attention generated from pro day as well. Nehemiah Hicks, who trained with Texas A&M strength and conditioning coach Larry Jackson, said he has spoken with several teams.
