Mad. College adds 10 state products to men's team

The Madison College men's basketball team recently signed 12 players to national letters of intent for the 2013-'14 season, including 10 from the Badger State.

"These young men come from excellent programs with excellent coaching staffs," head coach Scot Vesterdahl said in a news release. "We expect all of them to compete for playing time and starting positions. They have all had a ton of success in high school and will transition successfully into the college game."

These players will join the WolfPack, with comments from Vesterdahl:

Nate Scheeter of Royall: Scheeter was a first team all-Scenic Bluffs selection and the league's player of the year. He also received first team All-Region honors and was a Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association All-Star.

"Nate has excellent all-around skills and his work ethic is outstanding. He was the player of the year in an excellent conference and he will continue to improve. The WBCA All-Star game was a great experience to start the summer against great competition."

Shane Kanaman of Shiocton: Kanaman was a first team all-Central Wisconsin Eight choice and was a WBCA All-Star selection.

"Shane can flat out shoot the ball. He had an excellent season and will continue to get better because of his work ethic. The WBCA All-Star game was a great experience for him and will lead right into next season."

Hunter Leibfried of Potosi: Leibfried was a first-team all-Six Rivers West pick.

"Hunter is an excellent all-around athlete and it will be great to see his development when he can concentrate on one sport. He has a great work ethic and we believe that he will develop into an excellent player."

Brandon Doll of McFarland: Doll was a first-team all-Rock Valley North selection. He also received honorable mention all-region honors.

"Brandon is good in many areas of the game and he can score the ball. His work ethic in the weight room and on the floor will lead to future success."

Tyler Ballweg of Wisconsin Heights: Ballweg was selected first-team all-Capitol South. He also received second-team all-region honors.

"Tyler has excellent all-around skills that will continue to improve. We are confident that he will be a great addition to our program."

Daminiqus Ford of Eau Claire Memorial: Ford was a second-team all-Big Rivers pick.

"Daminiqus has a ton of potential and we are excited to see him develop over the next couple of years. He can defend, score and run the floor."

Tanner Schieve of Slinger: Schieve received second-team Wisconsin Little Ten all-conference honors.

"Tanner has excellent all-around skills. He has the ability to contribute in every area of the game and we are excited to get him on campus."

Griffin Eckhart of Cuba City: Eckhart was a member of the Cuba City state tournament team this season.

"Griffin has a ton of potential and we think he will really develop over the next couple of years. We expect big things from Griffin."

Malek Lemke of Eau Claire Memorial: "Malek will develop into an excellent player. His work ethic, dedication and talent will lead him to success."

Danny Jones of Fort Atkinson: "Danny will do some really nice things in our program. His work ethic and talent will lead to continued development."
