Top Husker players for 2013: No. 36-40

Voting Criteria: Player's importance to the team in 2013, talent and potential for the upcoming season. A player's long term/NFL potential was not taken into consideration.

Voting Panel: HuskerOnline.com publisher Sean Callahan, HuskerOnline.com senior staff writer Robin Washut and HuskerOnline.com staff writer Dan Hoppen.

No. 36 RB Terrell Newby Analysis
Chaminade HS
West Hills, California

Height: 5-10
Weight: 180
Year: Freshman

Depth Chart Projection: Back-up running back

2012 Stats: 301 carries for 2,305 yards and 45 touchdowns.

Recent Update:
Getting to know Terrell Newby

Newby comes to Nebraska with immediate expectations to make an impact as a true freshman. As a senior Newby rushed for 2,305 yards and 45 touchdowns and was named the California high school player of the year. Here's another stat to chew on - since 2002 14 different true freshmen running backs have played at Nebraska. The only two that red shirted were Collins Okafor and Lester Ward. If history tells us anything, Newby will play as a true freshman.
Voting Rundown: Sean Callahan - No. 24 / Dan Hoppen - No. 37 / Robin Washut- NR

No. 37 CB Andrew Green Analysis
Madison HS
San Antonio, Texas

Height: 6-0
Weight: 195
Year: RS Senior

Depth Chart Projection: No. 2 CB

2012 Stats: 50 total tackles, 2.5 TFL and 1 sack

Recent Update:
Spring grade out: Cornerback

A shoulder injury kept senior cornerback Andrew Green out for the spring. You couple that with a disappointing 2012 season, it's hard to know what the Huskers will get out of Green in his final season. Green has played in 22 games and has 17 careers starts over his career, but has yet to take that next step to be a shutdown cornerback. The competition at cornerback is arguably as strong as any on the team. It will be interesting to see how Green factors in when camp opens up this August.
Voting Rundown: Sean Callahan - No. 28 / Dan Hoppen - No. 35 / Robin Washut - NR

No. 38 RB Adam Taylor Analysis
Katy HS
Katy, Texas

Height: 6-2
Weight: 200
Year: Freshman

Depth Chart Projection: Back-up running back

2012 Stats: 333 carries, 2753 yards and 44 TD's

Recent Update:
Getting to know: Adam Taylor

Like Newby, incoming freshman running back Adam Taylor has the potential to make a major impact in year one for Nebraska. Taylor is a physical runner that's dominated at the highest level of Texas high school football and appears poised to be a short yardage and goal line type running back for the Huskers immediately. The fact Taylor comes from a 5A Texas program should also make his transition that much easier.
Voting Rundown: Sean Callahan - No. 29 / Dan Hoppen - NR / Robin Washut - No. 37

No. 39 LB Trevor Roach Analysis
Elkhorn HS
Omaha, Neb.

Height: 6-2
Weight: 230
Year: RS Junior

Depth Chart Projection: Co-No. 1 MLB

2012 Stats: 5 total tackles and 1 TFL

Recent Update:
Spring grade out: Linebacker

Every year a surprise walk-on player cracks the rotation in head coach Bo Pelini's defense. In 2013, look for junior linebacker Trevor Roach to get on the field and play significant snaps at Mike. Roach is a solid player that know the defense, and the other thing to factor in is the off-season shoulder surgery sophomore David Santos had, which could limit him in August and increase Roach's snaps.
Voting Rundown: Sean Callahan - No. 30 / Dan Hoppen - NR/ Robin Washut - NR

No. 40 P Sam Foltz Analysis
Grand Island HS
Grand Island, Neb.

Height: 6-1
Weight: 200
Year: RS Freshman

Depth Chart Projection: No. 1 Punter

2012 Stats: Redshirted

Recent Update:
HOL's projected post spring depth chart

Coming out of the spring redshirt freshman Sam Foltz is in the driver's seat to be Nebraska's punter in 2013. The Grand Island native is a talented athlete that was also in the mix for playing time at wide receiver this spring, but it's assumed now all of his focus will be at punter. Foltz has an extremely strong leg and is only going to get better the more he concentrates and focuses exclusively on punting. Foltz has been a four-sport athlete (football, basketball, track and baseball) for his entire life and has never been able to concentrate solely on punting.
Voting Rundown: Sean Callahan - No. 38 / Dan Hoppen - No. 35 / Robin Washut - No. 39
