MRI shows Harris has strained hamstring

Winston-Salem, N.C. - Results from an MRI that Wake Forest running back Josh Harris underwent Monday night show that he has a strained hamstring.

"Unfortunately Josh has just had problems," Wake Forest head coach Jim Grobe said. "We can't get him over that hamstring."

The redshirt sophomore from Duncanville, Texas missed Wake's games against Virginia Tech and Duke after rushing 13 times for 136 yards in the Demon Deacons 35-30 win over Florida State. He suffered the injury in the fourth quarter against the Seminoles, and left last week's 49-24 loss at North Carolina after carrying three times for nine yards.

A reprensentative from Wake Forest's Athletic Communications Office said Harris re-aggravated his hamstring during the loss to UNC, but the running back later tweeted from @JoshHarris25: "Oh and I didn't re-aggravate my hamstring against UNC it jus wouldn't get loose enough for me to open up and run like I normally do."

Harris' status has not changed from last week. He remains available to play Saturday when the Deacs (5-3, 4-2 ACC) host Notre Dame (5-3). Trainers will continue to help him strengthen his hamstring.

Harris is Wake's leading rusher this season with 94 carries for 421 yards and two touchdowns. He is averaging 52.6 yards rushing per game and 4.5 yards per carry.
