Schuessler leaves impression

In the month of June, Grayson (Loganville, Ga.) High School quarterback Nick Schuessler has made his way to various camps. With each stop, the rising senior has left behind a solid showing on the gridiron.

Last week, the 6-foot-4 and 195-pound Schuessler camped at Mississippi State and the following day helped his team win a Select 7 national qualifier camp in Hoover, Ala.

"I actually loved it at Mississippi State," said Schuessler, who threw for 1,499 yards last year with 12 touchdowns and just three interceptions. "I have also been to Ole Miss, Middle Tennessee State and Georgia and I am going to Clemson and Alabama, too. With the exception of Georgia, Mississippi State had the best facilities I've seen over the past year. I had a great time and I really like coach Dan Mullen and their quarterbacks' coach Les Koenning. I got along great with them and I enjoyed my whole camp experience there."

His trip to Starkville last week was actually his second visit to MSU this year, and he said he was invited back for a third visit.

"I went to Mississippi State, too, for junior day and that is when coach Greg Knox asked me to come to camp," said Schuessler. "I really like their facilities and their indoor practice facility and everything on campus. It has everything you look for in a college program.
"They said they wanted me to come back for the Big Dawg camp in July and I want to try to make that camp, too."

Schuessler currently holds no offers but noted he is drawing a good bit of SEC and ACC interest.

"I don't have any offers yet but the summer is going pretty good in recruiting," said Schuessler. "I am getting interest from Georgia, Tennessee, Mississippi State, Clemson, N.C. State, South Carolina, Kentucky, UAB and MTSU. So it's good to have that many schools interested in me."

And of those schools showing interest, Schuessler noted he was fond of one in-state program.

"Of course I would like to stay in-state and hopefully get an offer from Georgia," said Schuessler. "But Mississippi State is up there on my list, too, and so is Clemson. I just have to wait and see what all happens."
