Richt responds to question of play-calling

So, will Georgia coach Mark Richt take some of the play-calling duties away from offensive coordinator Mike Bobo during Saturday's game against Tennessee?

It doesn't appear that way.

"Right now that's not the plan," Richt said during Tuesday's press conference at Stegeman Coliseum.

"I've just got to be more assertive to say, let Mike know of certain situations because if a coach knows he's got three downs to get two yards instead of two downs to make two yards, he may call that a little different. There may be times where I say let's run this thing or whatever it might be, but I need to be a little more assertive in that way, just to give him some direction so he can know how to approach it."

In a follow-up question, Richt was asked whether or not he needed to take care so it doesn't appear he was usurping Bobo's authority as offensive coordinator

"No, well, the bottom line is if we score enough points to win, we don't have to worry about that," Richt said.

Offensively, Georgia ranks 10th in the SEC in scoring offense at 24.8 points per game, fourth in pass offense at 226.6, 10th in rushing offense with 137 yards per game and 8th in total offense at 334.6 yards per contest.

The Bulldogs actually rank third in Red-Zone offense, but those numbers are somewhat deceiving.

Georgia is 16-of-18 in Red Zone opportunities, but only 10 of those were touchdowns as Georgia has had to settle for six field goals, the second most of any team in the SEC.

Georgia's 10 touchdowns are tied for the third-worst in the league while the Bulldogs' six field goals are second-most in the conference.
