Warhawks fall to #10 Auburn

The Warhawks traveled to the Plains of Auburn to take on #10 Auburn in non-conference action on Saturday. ULM, having been shutout in the past two meetings, looked to snap that trend. They ended the scoring drought, but still remain winless in Jordan-Hare Stadium, as they fell 52 - 3.

Auburn wasted no time getting on the board, as the Tigers took an early 7-0 lead on Onterio McCalebb's 50 yard run just 21 seconds into the game. Following a ULM drive to mid-field that stalled, Auburn took over own their own three yard line. On their second play from deep in their own territory, Auburn quarterback Cam Newton connected with Emory Blake for a 94 yard score, the longest passing play in Auburn history.

ULM had their own offensive sparks in the opening quarter though, as they tallied their first fist quarter points thanks to a 36-yard field goal, his first of the season. In the opening quarter, the Warhawks also gained their first opening drive first down of the season and spread the ball around as eight different receivers had receptions. Ten receivers ended the game with receptions, including senior Rodney Lovett getting his first touch of the season, and freshman Luke Russell getting his first career reception.

Defending Louisiana Sports Writers Association Offensive Player of the Week, Kolton Browning, threw for 150 yards in 18-26 passing action, and ended the game with 203 yards passing. Browning became the first Warhawk QB to pass for over 200 yards in three straight games since Steven Jyles did in 2005.

Senior running back Frank Goodin continued to struggle in his quest to break the career rushing record as he ended the game with just four yards on five carries. Freshman Centarius Donald led the Warhawk rushing attack as he collected 27 yards on nine carries.

ULM will return to the friendly confines of Malone Stadium for a 6pm kickoff against Sun Belt Conference foe Florida Atlantic (1-3, 0-1).
