Young recieves C-USA honors
Martevious Young was named Conference USA Co-Offensive Player of the Week in a vote by league media and released today by the conference office.HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss redshirt junior quarterback
Young threw for 276 passing yards on 12-of-21 attempts and added 59 rushing yards in leading the Golden Eagles to their fourth win in his six starts, 44-34, over Tulsa. The Alexander City, Ala., native threw a career-best four touchdown passes, including a 95-yard strike to DeAndre Brown, which is listed as the second-longest pass play in school history.
He also hit Johdrick Morris for a 60-yard TD strike on the Golden Eagles' first play of the contest and added 12-yard and 34-yard TD passes. It was the fourth-straight game that he has not thrown an interception and he has not thrown a pick in his last 112 attempts.
Young shared the honor with Houston junior quarterback Case Keenum. Rice sophomore cornerback Travis Bradshaw won the Defensive Player of the Week honor, while East Carolina junior kick returner/wide receiver [db]Dwayne Harris[/db] won the Special Teams Player of the Week nod.
The Golden Eagles return to action this weekend when they travel to Greenville, N.C., for a 12:30 p.m., CT game against East Carolina. The winner of that contest will represent the East Division in the C-USA Championship game against the West Division winner which will be either Houston or SMU.
