Week 12 wrap: Raiders flying high

Troy took care of business by clinching at least a share of the Sun Belt championship over the weekend, while Middle Tennessee continued its recent surge by tying the school's FBS era record for wins in a season.

GoMiddle.com reviews all of the weekend action with the Sun Belt wrap up.

BEST GAME

LOUISIANA-LAFAYETTE 21, ULM 17- One of the Sun Belt's most heated rivalries provided plenty of excitement Saturday in Lafayette. The homestanding Ragin Cajuns used a stellar rushing effort from their backup quarterback to get a hard fought 21-17 win over the Warhawks. The victory helped ULL become bowl eligible for the fourth time in the last five seasons. Backup quarterback Brad McGuire ran for two touchdowns as a short yardage specialist in relief of starting quarterback Chris Masson. The loss knocked ULM out of contention to claim a share of the conference title and has the Warhawks in danger of missing a bowl game if they can't upset Middle Tennessee this weekend.

BEST OFFENSIVE PERFORMANCE

TROY QUARTERBACK LEVI BROWN- Brown added yet another milestone to his stellar 2009 campaign in the Trojans dominating 47-21 win over Florida Atlantic. Brown threw for a career high 477 yards and three touchdowns. The win clinched at least a share of Troy's fourth consecutive Sun Belt Conference championship. Brown also broke the school single season passing record and now has 3,575 passing yards for the year.

BEST DEFENSIVE PERFORMANCE

MT DEFENSIVE END JAMARI LATTIMORE- Middle Tennessee has become known for outstanding defensive end play over the last decade and Lattimore has emerged as one of the latest stars at the position. Lattimore made one of the best plays of the weekend when he recovered a fumble against Arkansas State, ran for 25 yards and then pitched the ball to Jeremy Kellem, who ran the final 15 yards for a touchdown. The play gave the Raiders a commanding lead and the defense again looked dominant. Lattimore helped lead a defense that only surrendered 220 yards on the day. It was the second straight week he contributed to a defensive touchdown. Against Louisiana-Lafayette, he returned an interception for a score.

TEAM THAT MOST IMPRESSED

MIDDLE TENNESSEE- Middle Tennessee all but locked up a trip to a bowl game in the Raiders convincing home win over Arkansas State. The Blue Raiders improved to 8-3 and won their fifth straight game in the 38-14 thrashing of the Red Wolves. 2009 will go down as one of the most successful seasons in the program's history with an opportunity to go for win number nine next week at ULM. Quarterback Dwight Dasher again showed why he is one of the top dual threat quarterbacks in the nation. The junior threw for 263 yards and three touchdowns and added 73 more yards rushing.

TEAM THAT MOST DISAPPOINTED

NORTH TEXAS- Believe it or not, North Texas was a favorite to win this week at home against Army. However, Saturday's game proved to be the same old story as the Mean Green offense sputtered in a 17-13 loss to the Black Knights. The win pulled Army within one victory of becoming bowl eligible. North Texas is still learning how to win as the Mean Green has now lost five games this year by a touchdown or less. Army forced five turnovers and handed North Texas its ninth loss. Army quarterback Trent Steelman ran for the game winning score with less than two minutes remaining.

FINAL SCOREBOARD

Louisiana-Lafayette 21, ULM 17
Middle Tennessee 38, Arkansas State 14
Troy 47, Florida Atlantic 21
Army 17, North Texas 13
Florida 62, FIU 3
