CMU avenges loss to Ball State; wins 35-3

MUNCIE, Ind. - Dan LeFevour accounted for five touchdowns and became the Mid-American Conference's all-time leading passer in Central Michigan's 35-3 win at Ball State.

The Chippewas (9-2, 7-0 MAC) scored on their first drive, for the fifth time in the last six games, when LeFevour found Bryan Anderson in the back corner of the end zone for a 10-yard touchdown pass. The reception tied Anderson for the longest string of consecutive games with a catch (51).

The Cardinals (1-10, 1-6 MAC) opened the second quarter by stopping the Chippewas on four straight plays inside the 1-yard line, but the CMU defense responded with a three-and-out and gave the offense the ball again in Ball State territory. LeFevour needed just six plays to reach the end zone and take a 14-0 lead on a 1-yard run that was set up by his own 14-yard carry.

After the Cardinals added their only points of the game on a 20-yard field goal with 1:38 left in the half, the Chippewas stretched their lead to 21-3 less than a minute later when LeFevour escaped pressure running to his right side and found a sprinting Antonio Brown across the middle of the field. Brown ran down the sideline for an 82-yard touchdown, the longest play from scrimmage for the Chippewas this season.

LeFevour completed 14 of his first 17 passes tonight, one week after completing 17 of his first 19, and was a perfect 11 of 11 in the second half, finishing 25 of 28 for 344 yards and four touchdown passes. He surpassed Byron Leftwich's MAC career passing yardage record and ended the night at an even 12,000 yards.

Brown caught 11 passes for 170 yards and one touchdown, while Ball State completed 10 of 17 passes for 105 yards. Central Michigan outgained the Cardinals 511 total yards to 230.
