NEWS & NOTES FROM THE FANS PERSPECTIVE

Harrisonville(7-1) 34, Smith Cotton(7-1) 7

Game Summary Smith Cotton came into the game on a roll, winners of seven straight, behind a solid running game of Andrew Byrd. But Joe Dahman, Kyle Livingston and company would have none of that in their house. In front of a packed house in Harrisonville, the Wildcats answered the call, only giving up one touchdown for the night. The Cats gave Byrd fits all night long, holding the Smith-Cotton star to 56 yards on 15 carries. Besides Dahman and Livingston, the Cats that really made a difference were SS Alex Bartlett, OLB Chance Alexander, and DL Brandon Poole. Poole lived in the Smith-Cotton backfield, while Alexander and Bartlett both stayed at home on D and had key turnovers. Barlett a forced fumble on a punt return, and Alexander a big interception. Not to be outdone, the Harrisonville offense put on a show of their own. The three-headed monster of Derek Haug, Terry Scott, and QB Sam Cooper put on an option running clinic, as each accounted for a touchdown. Terry Scott had a 33-yard TD run, Haug a 39 yarder and Cooper also added a two-yard score. Cooper added a 10-yard scoring strike to receiver Tyler Hern to put Harrisonville up 14-0 early in the second. He also completed three third-and-long passes, one for 49 yards to Scott.
