Top receivers commits to Eagles

Boston College picked up its first four-star prospect of the 2010 recruiting class and one of the nation's best wide receivers when Shakim Phillips committed to the Eagles over a host of other programs that were chasing him.


When Phillips was considering all the schools, McKenna said depth charts did not play as much of a factor as location - Phillips did not want to fly back and forth to school and home. The academics that Boston College can offer were also a significant selling point. The combination of everything in Chestnut Hill just seemed to work.

"It was more we narrowed it down based on location," McKenna said. "He didn't really want to have to fly back and forth so that was our first thing and like I said the academics, they speak for themselves at BC and the football speaks for itself and his relationship with the coaches, too."
