Bitancurt starts WVU life as record-setting booter

MORGANTOWN-Frank Sinatra may have had a guy like Tyler Bitancurt in mind when he once sang, "That's life, that's what all the people say. You're riding high in April, shot down in May."

Bitancurt, a 6-foot, 180-pound redshirt freshman, was recruited to West Virginia in 2008 as the heir apparent to kicker Pat McAfee.

McAfee finished his career last January as the Mountaineers' all-time leading scorer. Bitancurt was an all-state kicker for coach Bill Renner at West Springfield (Va.) High. He was selected as a Washington Post All-Met as a senior.
